This program is for 3rd-5th graders that focuses on one-act shows that help students grow their performance skills but also help grow their confidence and creative minds! VOLUNTEER OH FRIENDS FINE ARTS ACADEMY ACT ONE (3rd-5th) ASTRA (6th-8th) TICKETS We are proud to offer this brand-new FREE opportunity to the Elementary Schools in the community! A Team of two Theatre Instructors will go into the schools and lead fun and informative workshops! These 60-minute workshops will focus on exercises to help your student learn about theatre while they grow and use their creative minds. Our current workshops we offer are an Improv Workshop (which focuses on trusting instincts, working as a team, and thinking fast), Acting Workshop (which focuses on BIG choices, working as a team, and how to portray a character), Scenic Design Workshop (focuses on all the tech elements of the show-set design, lighting, sound, etc.) and Costuming/Makeup Workshop (focuses on designing the costume and makeup plots for the show and we will even do demonstrations!) ​ ​ ​ We only have 10 OPEN WORKSHOPS for this semester so have your teachers/educators email academyjcoh@gmail.com for more information or to reserve your spot!

You will connect and engage with cast members and Broadway movers and shakers. In addition, you will have exclusive access to Broadway's most beautiful theatres - and much more! ​ Thursday, September12- Sunday,September15th 2024 Thursday Our welcome dinner, with complimentary drinks, in the private room of a fine Theatre District restaurant. Joining us will be a Broadway mover-and-shaker. ​ You will see, from Front Orchestra seats, the first of three Broadway shows of your choice. Friday Transport by private coach We will ride over the Manhattan Bridge, with ts sweeping vista of the neighboring Brooklyn Bridge and the Financial District skyline. ​ Private visit to our country’s foremost Decorative Arts Studio---world renowned restorers of theatres across the U.S. (including a majority of the Broadway theatres), churches around the world, and capital buildings throughout the U.S. ​ Visit the Kings, one of New York’s most exquisite, remaining motion picture palaces -- built in 1929, closed in 1977, abandoned until a $93 million restoration led to the theatre’s reopening in 2015. The decorative arts in this theater were magnificently restored by the studio we visited this morning. We will have an immersive discussion with the person in large part responsible for preventing the theatre’s 1980s demolition. ​ Your will see, from Front Orchestra seats, the second Broadway show of your choice. Saturday We will spend this morning and early afternoon in the Garment District’s first, and most beautiful, apartment building. In addition to marveling at a rooftop skyline vista from the nearby Empire State Building to the distant World Trade Center, we will: enjoy in the building’s lovely lounge: An entertainment salon with three principal Broadway cast members, each from a different hit musical, accompanied on the piano by the keyboardist and assistant conductor of “Wicked.” This will be followed by a Cuban lunch, in celebration of the heritage of our Alejandro! Mid and late afternoon free. You may want to see an additional Broadway show on your own. If requested, we will obtain front orchestra seats for you ​ Your will see, from Front Orchestra seats, the third Broadway show of your choice. Hoover Opera House, will be a highly respected member of the Broadway community Sunday This morning, we will explore the architecture and life styles within two iconic Manhattan neighborhoods, while we pass and discuss New York’s oldest and most important Off-Broadway theaters, which have initiated some of the most successful shows in Broadway history. Greenwich Village, a dynamic hub for the arts, for each era’s counter-culture, and the birthplace of Off-Broadway theatre in the 1930s. We will see the first Off-Broadway theatres, which are still standing. The East Village: The original gateway for Ellis Island immigrants in the late 1800's and early 1900s, home to the hippie generation in the mid 1900s, to the punk-rock generation in the late 1900s, and to some of today’s most influential Off-Broadway theaters. Early Sunday afternoon, your choice: Depart New York this afternoon. Or, see a matinee performance on your own (additional cost). We will gladly obtain Front Orchestra seats, if requested.
